Swimming at Leamy Lake Park beach is prohibited until further notice because of a possible spill, the National Capital Commission announced Tuesday.
“Additional, no water activity is recommended,” an NCC notification said, although it added that the beach was expected to reopen as soon as water conditions allowed.
The park and its pathways and picnic areas remain accessible during the beach closure, the NCC said, and parking at Leamy Lake Park will be free for the duration of the closure.
Conservation officers are investigating the possible spill. A boom barrier has been put in place in the channel near the Casino du Lac Lemay.
