A white racist in Ayer, Massachusetts, has gotten himself arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault to intimidate, including anti-Black bias — all because he couldn’t mind his Klan-ish, Caucasian business while a Black father and daughter enjoyed a fishing trip together.
Fishing while Black victim Sheron Brown told WCBV 5 he was out on a boat, fishing on Lake Shirley last week on Memorial Day with his 10-year-old daughter, when a white man who lives nearby and apparently felt their boat was too close to his home began shouting at them to leave.
“He started getting belligerent, saying you can’t fish here, you can’t fish near my dock, you have to go somewhere else,” Brown said.
Brown captured part of the incident in a video he posted to Facebook, including the moment when the white man, later identified as 66-year-old David McPartlan, began hurling rocks and racial slurs at the family, who had apparently committed the egregious offense of — *checks notes* — enjoying themselves in a rabid white man’s line of sight.
“Next, you know, I hear this big splash. Did you just throw a rock at me? Picked up my phone, I pushed the button, and he just started talking, and he doubled down on what he said,” Brown said. “I said we’re not going to have this no more, I’m going to call 911.”
McPartlan can be heard in the video saying, “Yeah, I’m throwing rocks at you, n****r!”
“The way he said it, there was hate in his voice. The way he kept going on,” Brown said. “I’m not trying to judge anybody, I don’t know, but it seems like that was something he was comfortable saying. I brought it to his attention that I’m with my daughter.”
Nah — there are certain people you can go ahead and judge. Imagine being consumed with anti-Blackness that is so visceral you can’t even keep it to yourself in the presence of a child.
McPartlan is scheduled to appear in Fitchburg District Court later this month. Hopefully, he gets the judgment he deserves.
