The Toronto Raptors officially acquired forward Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans, the team confirmed on Thursday.
Ingram, 27, was dealt to Toronto in a multi-player trade involving Canadian big man Kelly Olynyk, guard Bruce Brown and two draft picks, including Indiana’s 2026 first-rounder and a 2031 second-round selection.
Ingram has been out since Dec. 7 with a high-ankle sprain but was the Pelicans’ most efficient scorer before the injury. On the season, Ingram is averaging 22 points per game, along with five rebounds and five assists, while shooting 37 per cent from three.
He’s slated to become a free agent this summer, but the deal now ensures Toronto has Ingram’s Bird rights, a salary cap exception that allows teams to re-sign their own free agents for more money than the cap. According to various reports, Ingram is expected to sign a contract to remain in Toronto for the long term.
Ingram spent six seasons in New Orleans and three with the Los Angeles Lakers, who drafted him second overall in 2016.
Raptors trade for Wiseman, cash
Brown, 28, spent parts of two seasons with the Raptors after being acquired from the Pacers as part of the Pascal Siakam trade. He was injured for much of this year but recently returned to action, appearing in 18 games. Brown will be a free agent this summer.
Olynyk, 33, also played parts of two seasons in his hometown. At last year’s deadline, Toronto traded for Olynyk, acquiring the veteran from the Utah Jazz along with Ochai Agbaji. The Canadian big man, who signed an extension with Toronto last season, also missed much of the season due to injury, appearing in 24 games with the Raptors.
The Raptors also announced the acquisition of center James Wiseman and cash from the Indiana Pacers for an undisclosed draft pick. The team later confirmed that Wiseman had been waived.
Wiseman, 23, is a former second-overall selection by the Golden State Warriors in 2020. He appeared in one game with the Pacers this year before tearing his Achilles tendon and undergoing surgery.
The Raptors are in Oklahoma City to play the Thunder on Friday night.
