MONTREAL – Reitmans Ltd. says its chief operating officer is departing the company after 31 years of service.
The Montreal-based retailer says Jackie Tardif’s departure will take place at the start of December as the company moves to eliminate its chief operating officer role.
Earlier this year, Reitmans was the target of a group of shareholders that pressured it to address its stagnating value, urging it to replace two board directors.
Canada’s retail sector continues to face pressure following the COVID-19 pandemic, which spurred growth in e-commerce.
Andrea Limbardi, the Reitmans CEO, says the departing executive played a significant role in driving the retailer’s objectives over her tenure.
The company did not specify how it will absorb the responsibilities of the COO role following its elimination.
