Firefighters arriving confirmed the front of the building was engulfed in smoke and flames. The resident had already jumped.

An aerial ladder was also used to attack the flames from above.

While the firefighters were on scene, a partial structural failure occurred, forcing the teams to back out of the building.

The fire was declared under control at 12:15 a.m.

One resident of the home was treated for minor burns they suffered while trying to extinguish the fire.

Fire services said one of three cats in the home was brought to safety, while a second cat died.
