The LRT Rideau Station was closed Monday evening after a man went into cardiac arrest.
Ottawa paramedics responded to the incident at 3:25 p.m., with a spokesperson stating that an adult male had been on an escalator “at or near” the LRT station when he went into cardiac arrest. Despite resuscitation attempts, he was declared dead at the scene.
An Ottawa police spokesperson, contacted at about 5:30 p.m., said officers were at the scene dealing with a medical emergency, that there was no danger to the public and that the scene would be cleared shortly.
Police barrier tape was up at entry points to the station.
