Scarborough man charged with 2024 sex offences in Lanark County

A 23-year-old man from Scarborough has been charged with sexual offences involving a youth in Lanark County in 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police announced Wednesday.

An OPP news release said the investigation began July 2, 2024, regarding alleged offences in June of that same year.

The man, whose identity was withheld by police to prevent identification of the youth, was arrested on Jan 27, 2026. He was charged with:

  • Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Making, printing, publishing or possessing for the purpose of publication of any child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Possession of child sexual exploitation material
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16
  • Two counts of luring a person under 18 by telecommunication

The 23-year-old man was released from custody following a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear in court at a later date, police said.
