Environment Canada has issued a “severe thunderstorm watch” for the Ottawa-Gatineau region Saturday morning.
“Severe thunderstorms may develop this morning or this afternoon,” the agency said Saturday on its website.
Wind gusting up to 90 kmh and/or 25 to 50 mm of rainfall or two cm of hail in one hour are possible, the agency said.
Driving conditions may be difficult and utility outages are possible.
Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.
Emergency Management Ontario recommends that people take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
