FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt has announced a comprehensive review on the future of the province’s Crown-owned electric utility.
Holt says the independent review of NB Power will be conducted by a panel of three people who will gather and analyze data, seek public feedback and develop recommendations.
The premier says all options will be considered for the utility and its operations because with soaring power bills for customers, “the status quo is no longer an option.”
Energy Minister René Legacy says the review will focus on four areas: fiscal sustainability; governance and utility structure; customer expectations; and investor attractiveness and strategic partnerships.
The people leading the review will be announced later this month and are expected to present their recommendations by the end of March 2026.
The public engagement part of the review is expected to begin in June.
