TORONTO – Technology stocks helped drive Canada’s main stock index lower in late-morning trading on Friday, while U.S. markets were mixed.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 103.53 points at 29,304.36.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 170.80 points at 45,937.20. The S&P 500 index was up 2.87 points at 6,590.34, while the Nasdaq composite was up 97.29 points at 22,140.36.
The Canadian dollar traded for 72.18 cents US compared with 72.23 cents US on Thursday.
The October crude oil contract was down US$1.00 at US$63.37 per barrel.
The December gold contract was down US$9.70 at US$3,683.30 an ounce.
