TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index fell in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the technology sector, while U.S. stock markets also moved lower.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 39.15 points at 32,831.21.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 111.70 points at 49,080.29. The S&P 500 index was down 51.98 points at 6,911.76, while the Nasdaq composite was 307.82 points at 23,402.05.
The Canadian dollar traded for 72.06 cents US compared with 72.01 cents US on Tuesday.
The February crude oil contract was up 50 cents US at US$61.65 per barrel.
The February gold contract was up US$23.70 at US$4,622.80 an ounce.
