S&P/TSX composite down as telecom and base metal stocks fall, U.S. markets mixed

TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index fell in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the telecom and base metal sectors, while U.S. stock markets were mixed.

The S&P/TSX composite index was down 70.96 points at 21,777.63.
