TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index was down in morning trading along with U.S. markets as crude prices came under pressure.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 154.67 points at 30,122.13 as energy stocks weakened.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 171.12 points at 46,187.30. The S&P 500 index was down 38.38 points at 6,696.73, while the Nasdaq composite was down 169.91 points at 22,855.02
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.44 cents US compared with 71.43 cents US on Thursday.
The November crude oil contract was down US$1.14 cents US at US$60.37 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$329.90 at US$4,002.50 an ounce.
