TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index fell more than 150 points in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the technology and industrial sectors, while U.S. stock markets also lost ground.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 168.23 points at 30,333.76.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 183.73 points at 46,418.05. The S&P 500 index was down 22.14 points at 6,731.58, while the Nasdaq composite was down 83.11 points at 22,960.27.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.37 cents US compared with 71.67 cents US on Wednesday.
The November crude oil contract was down 22 cents US at US$62.33 per barrel.
The December gold contract was down US$30.50 at US$4,040.00 an ounce.
