TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index fell in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the industrial and telecom sectors, while U.S. markets climbed.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 42.49 points at 29,008.14.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 70.15 points at 45,471.01. The S&P 500 index was up 20.65 points at 6,502.15, while the Nasdaq composite was up 149.86 points at 21,850.25.
The Canadian dollar traded for 72.36 cents US compared with 72.31 cents US on Friday.
The October crude oil contract was up 52 cents US at US$62.39 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$29.80 at US$3,683.10 an ounce.
