Stittsville boy injured when hit by car while riding his bike

A young boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening when he was struck by a car while riding a bicycle.

The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Percheron Way and Cavesson Street.

Ottawa paramedics confirmed they examined the boy and transported him to CHEO.

Paramedics would only say the victim was under the age of 10.

Stittsvile Coun. Glen Gower said it was “the second serious bike collision in our community in less than a week,” in a post on the social media site Bluesky. “Something has to change here.

Gower has worked to improve cycling conditions in the city, and recently

posted a newsletter

listing “30 ways to make streets safer,” including lowering speed limits, traffic calming, and fewer road widenings.
