Global markets continued their downward spiral Friday as China retaliated against U.S. President Donald Trump’s escalating trade war with tariffs of there own.
Canadian and U.S. stock markets opened Friday morning in a freefall.
By 10:30 a.m., the S&P-TSX Composite Index was down more than 3.8 per cent, while the S&P 500 in New York was close behind down 3.7 per cent.
The continued market mayhem comes a day after the S&P 500 saw its worst day since 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
