A section of Bathurst Street is closed to vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians following a gas leak at a construction site.
Emergency crews were called to 64 Bathurst St. near Wellington Street West just after 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Toronto police said construction workers were evacuated from the site. No injuries have been reported.
Fire officials said a gas line ruptured but it’s not yet known how it happened. Enbridge is on scene investigating.
Bathurst is closed between Front Street West and King Street West. TTC vehicles are diverting in the area.
Toronto police have not said when the roadway will reopen.
Drivers were already experiencing delays in the area after a garbage truck hit streetcar wires at King and Spadina Avenue earlier this week. The incident led to road closures on Spadina and King and impacted several TTC streetcar routes in the area.
The TTC has said the repairs are expected to continue until the end of the week.
