A 14-year-old male has been charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after a 37-year-old man was stabbed in South Dundas Township.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers found the victim was found just before 6:30 p.m. on June 6 in a field adjacent to Van Allen Road. He was then transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the youth is being withheld under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

“There was no risk to public safety, and the victim was known to the accused,” the OPP said in a news release.

The teen was released from custody and scheduled to appear later in court in Cornwall.
