The Beer Store will be closing six more Ontario stores in November including two in the Greater Toronto Area.
The chain said market changes forced them to make the “difficult decision” to shut down a Mississauga location at 3535 Etude Drive and a store in Pickering at 1355 Kingston Road on Nov. 2, according to a press release Wednesday.
Brick and mortars in Niagara Falls at 4670 Bridge Street, London at 1225 Wonderland Road, Sudbury at 891 Notre Dame Avenue, and Mattawa at 511 Valois Drive, will also close their doors on that date.
“Where we sell beer and collect empties is changing in Ontario as part of market modernization. In an ongoing process, The Beer Store is adapting to market changes and making the hard decision to close retail locations,” Ozzie Ahmed, the Beer Store’s vice president of retail said in the release. “We know this is difficult news for consumers, recyclers and our employees.”
Ahmed added that “all efforts” would be made to support their staff who will be impacted but he did not specify what that support would look like.
The province’s largest beer seller has announced more than 80 closures since May of including 11 that are set to shut down at the end of the month.
