The Star's theatre critic traded his pen and notepad for a role in Mirvish's 'The Lion King.' Here's how he fared — and what he found

On any given night, you can probably find me sitting on the aisle of a theatre somewhere in Toronto, with a pen in one hand and a notebook on my lap, reviewing the latest show that has opened. But if you were at the Princess of Wales Theatre last Thursday evening, you may have seen me in the aisle instead. 

I had traded my pen and notebook for grey pantaloons, a giant rhinoceros puppet and a small role in Mirvish’s production of “The Lion King.” For one night only, I joined the Pride Lands for the Disney musical’s iconic opening number, “Circle of Life.”
