Toronto fans of The Weeknd, wallets at the ready: the singer-songwriter announced on Friday that he’ll play two concerts at the Rogers Centre this summer. The shows — on July 27 and 28 — are part of The Weeknd’s upcoming 2025 stadium tour, “After Hours Till Dawn.”
The announcement arrived just hours after the Scarborough-born artist released his highly anticipated album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” the final instalment of his “After Hours” trilogy.
The 2025 “After Hours Till Dawn” tour has 26 dates including Vancouver, Edmonton and Montreal. U.S. concert dates include Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
Born Abel Tesfaye, The Weeknd will be joined on tour by American rapper Playboi Carti, who guests on “Timeless,” a track from “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” Mike Dean, who produced several songs on the new album, is also billed as a special guest.
The “Blinding Lights” singer said he would retire his pseudonym “The Weeknd” after “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” He said he plans to release songs under his birth name.
The Weeknd has 25 songs in Spotify’s “billions club” — tracks that have more than a billion streams. He was the first artist on the platform to reach this milestone.
The summer 2025 dates will be the first time that The Weeknd has played Toronto since September 2022. That date was rescheduled from July 2022 after a nation-wide Rogers network outage.
Sign-ups are currently available until Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. for the presale that starts on Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. More information can be found on Ticketmaster.
