Popular hairsprays, texture sprays and dry shampoos are being pulled from shelves over missing hazard labelling, Health Canada says.
Without the required hazard symbols, signal words and safety information, people could misuse the hair products which could cause serious injury, the federal agency said in its recall notice.
The recall from Thursday concerned seven DESIGNME hair products with their Universal Product Codes (UPCs):
- DESIGNME HOLD.ME three-way hairspray, 69 ml, UPC 842879000350
- DESIGNME HOLD.ME three-way hairspray, 330 ml, UPC 842879000220
- DESIGNME PUFF.ME dry texture spray, 69 ml, UPC 842879000527
- DESIGNME QUICKIE.ME dry shampoo spray for dark tones, 339ml, UPC 842879000213
- DESIGNME QUICKIE.ME dry shampoo spray for dark tones, 96 ml, UPC 842879000336
- DESIGNME QUICKIE.ME dry shampoo spray for light tones, 339 ml, UPC 842879000206
- DESIGNME QUICKIE.ME dry shampoo spray for light tones, 96 ml, UPC 842879000329
The recall was originally issued on July 31, but more products have since been added, Health Canada said in the notice.
More than 492,000 of the affected hair products were sold in Canada between November 2019 and August, the agency said. The company has received no reports of incident or injury in the country as of Aug. 22, Health Canada added.
Health Canada is asking consumers to “immediately stop using” the recalled hair products and to return them to the retailer for relabelling.
