Three people face a long list of charges following a police chase early Wednesday in pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

The action began at about 2 a.m. when police responded to calls for a vehicle theft in progress in the 1400 block of Richmond Road, in the Lincoln Fields area.

Police spotted the vehicle about 25 minutes later near Dumaurier Avenue, where it fled from police at high speeds.

Police terminated the pursuit due to speed and road conditions.

In the release, police said the vehicle was spotted at 2:27 a.m. near March Road and Highway 417.

Officers deployed a “tire deflation device”, deflating all four tires.

The stolen vehicle continued onto Highway 417, exited at Kanata Avenue, where it intentionally rammed a police vehicle.

In turn, “police then made intentional contact to safely terminate the pursuit.”

A 28-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, and a 42-year-old man, all from Ottawa, were charged with several offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, assaulting a peace officer, flight from a peace officer, uttering threats and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2666.
