Three charged with murder in disappearance of Smiths Falls man

Three people have been charged with murder in connection with the

disappearance of Robbie Thomson

, a Smiths Falls man who went missing in October 2023.

Thomson’s disappearance

has been declared a homicide, even though his body has not been located, Ontario Provincial Police said in a release Thursday.

OPP identified the accused as:

  • Christopher Fenton, 48, of Montague Township
  • Erin Mackie, 40, of Montague Township, and
  • Joshua Belfiori, 34, of Kingston

They each face one count of first-degree murder.

“The accused remain in custody and are … to appear for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Thursday,” OPP said.

Search operations are continuing on Kelly Jordan Road, northeast of Smiths Falls. There is no risk to public safety, OPP said.

Earlier this month, police offered a $50,000 reward for information about Thomson’s disappearance.
