A tow truck driver was injured after being targeted in a drive-by shooting in Scarborough on Thursday night, Toronto police said.
Authorities were notified of a shooting incident just before midnight in the Lawrence Avenue and Greencrest Circuit area.
A male victim was located with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and transported to a hospital.
Police tell 680News Radio that they’re investigating this as a targeted, drive-by shooting, noting that the victim was sitting in his tow truck around 11:30 p.m. when the driver of a dark-coloured Honda pulled up, and a gunman opened fire.
More than 10 shots were fired, police said.
No suspect description was provided, and the investigation is ongoing.
This is the second shooting in as many days where the victim has been a tow truck operator. It’s unclear if the two incidents are connected.
