Ontario Provincial Police say nearly two dozen people have been arrested and a major quantity of illegal drugs seized following a five-month investigation in Pembroke.
Following a five-month investigation by the OPP East Region community street crime unit, a regional support team and the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, officers raided residences on Martin Street and Pembroke Street West in Pembroke.
A total of more than 400 grams of suspected fentanyl was seized along with more than 300 grams of suspected cocaine, 120 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 70 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 650 suspected hydromorphone tablets.
A loaded handgun with a full high-capacity magazine and regular magazine were seized, along with a loaded sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and a replica firearm.
More than $13,000 in cash was seized as proceeds of crime, along with a 2023 SUV valued at more than $55,000. Several cellphones were seized along with items typically associated with drug trafficking.
Officers from a number of OPP detachments and squads were involved in various aspects of the five-month probe.
Police said in a release that more arrests and charges were anticipated.
