Two men were arrested only minutes after a late-February bank robbery in Clarence-Rockland.
At about 9:25 a.m. on Feb 27, OPP officers received a report that a robbery was in progress at a financial institution, with police being told that two individuals had entered the bank, with one allegedly holding what appeared to be a black handgun. The suspects were reportedly seen leaving the area in a black Ford F-150.
Police were in the area at the time, and at about 9:43 a.m. officers from the Hawkesbury OPP detachment noticed a vehicle matching the description travelling on County Road 17 in Plantagenet. The truck was stopped and two suspects were taken into custody without incident, the OPP said in a news release on March 9.
Daniel Loyer, 57, from Loyalist Township, and Denis Richard, 59, of Gatineau, have been charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent.
The two accused remained in custody and the investigation continues, police said Monday.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the Russell County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.crimestoppers.ca .
