A 26-year-old man has been identified as the victim in a fatal Brampton shooting last week.

Peel Regional Police officers were called to a home on Odeon Street near Goreway Drive and Mayfield Road at around 11:30 p.m. for reports of gunshots.

Graphic security camera footage posted online but later removed shows two people in the driveway clearing snow from a vehicle when a car pulls up.

Two people then get out of the vehicle and open fire. One victim manages to run away, but the other falls to the ground and is shot several more times at close range.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Pritpal Singh.

A second male victim, around 25 years old, was rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police add, a short time later, a shooting incident occurred in Caledon and investigators believe the shootings are related.

There were no injuries in that incident and Peel police is working with the OPP.

A GoFundMe for Singh says he came to Canada five months ago as a student and was the victim of “mistaken identity.”

Police would not confirm that, telling CityNews, “I can share that our investigators are exploring all potential avenues and investigative leads to determine what took place during this incident.”

Singh’s brother, Khushwantpal Singh, was the other victim in the shooting and tells OMNI News he was shot through my arm.

“I went running and thought my brother was running behind me … Within 10-15 seconds it all happened… I had no idea what to do,” shared Khushwantpal.

Khushwantpal was emotional and fighting back tears while telling OMNI News that his brother was so excited to see his first ever snowfall that night.

He added they had only moved in to the property a few days prior and had been renting.
