Therme Canada is updating the design for its Ontario Place waterpark and wellness facility, the company announced in a statement Tuesday.
The redesigned facility will encompass 16 acres of parks, walking trails, beaches, “cultural gathering areas” and “nature play zones” along Toronto’s western waterfront, according to the statement.
The waterpark and wellness centre will feature waterslides, thermal bathing, saunas, pools and other traditional spa amenities.
Therme said it partnered with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation on the new design.
“At Therme, we believe that well-being should be accessible, joyful, and culturally meaningful,” said Adam Vaughan, senior adviser at Therme Canada, “We are honoured to help shape a renewed Ontario Place — one that is open, welcoming, and transformative.”
Therme has not yet agreed to an interview request.
“Ontario Place has always been a place of connection — to land, to water, and to each other,” Chief Claire Sault, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, said in the statement. “This project is about honouring those connections through design that reflects Indigenous teachings, ecological stewardship, and community use.”
