Weather office warns of continued flurries, deep chill

Ottawa is under two “yellow” weather notices Sunday morning.

The colour alert system is new this year

, to help users figure out the weather status: They are Yellow alerts, the most common, Orange alerts are one step up and Red alerts, the most serious warning.

is warning that temperatures are expected to remain with snow flurries continuing.

Sunday’s high is expected to be -17, with wind chill making it feel like -36 in the afternoon, raising the danger of frostbite to uncovered skin. Winds are expected to calm down Sunday afternoon, making the wind chill reading about -27.

Snowfall is expected to increase through the afternoon, leaving an expected 10-15 cm of new snow.

Monday looks like more snow, ending at around noon, when skies will become cloudy with a 40-per-cent chance of flurries. The day’s temperatures is expected to hit a low of about -25

Cloudy conditions with flurries are expected to continue from Tuesday to Thursday. Temperatures should range from highs of about -11 and lows reaching -25.
