Environment Canada is warning thunderstorms may become severe Sunday as a regional heat wave continues.
“
The main threat for hazardous thunderstorms will be this afternoon into early this evening,” the agency warned on social media at about 10:30 a.m.
“Wind gusts up to 100 km/h, heavy downpours, Hail up to toonie size,” are among the potential dangers, the agency said.

If threatening weather appears, people are urged to take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail.
The Bluesfest is scheduled to start its fourth day of programming at 5 p.m. There’s no immediate word on the festival’s plans for the afternoon.
A stifling heat wave continued to hold the capital in its grasp Sunday, with fresh heat warnings from Environment Canada.
The forecast is for a high of 31 C, feeling like 40 or so when the humidity is factored. The UV index is expected to hit 7, or high.
The sizzling temperatures are expected to continue through at least Wednesday. The forecast highs are 30 per cent Monday, 32 C on Tuesday, and 30 on Wednesday.
