Here’s a list of what’s open and what’s closed on Labour Day Monday:
OC Transpo
- OC Transpo buses and O-Train lines 1, 2, and 4 will be on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
- O-Train Line 1 will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
- Weekend service to summer destinations (The Canada Aviation and Space Museum, Petrie Island and the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum) will run on Monday.
- The Rural Shopper Route #301 will not run on Monday.

Para Transpo regular bookings and recurring trips for Monday are automatically cancelled. You can book trips by calling 613-560-5000 or using My Para Transpo.
Green bin, recycling and garbage collection
- No curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Monday.
- Monday’s pickup will take place on Tuesday, and collection will be delayed by one day all week.
- Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular schedule.
- The Trail Waste Facility landfill will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ottawa Client Service Centres
- The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters on Monday.
- All ServiceOttawa’s Client Services Centres, provincial offences and APS counters and phone lines will be closed.
- The Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Ave. will be closed on Monday.
- The spay and neuter clinic at 26 Concourse Gate will be closed.
- The City of Ottawa Archives and Gallery 112 at the James Bartleman Centre will be closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- The Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, City Hall Art Gallery and Karsh-Masson Gallery at City Hall will be closed on Monday.
Recreation and cultural services
- Most recreation complexes and some pools will be open and operating on a modified schedule. Visit the facility pages on the city’s website for details.
- Arts Court, Nepean Creative Arts Centre, Nepean Visual Arts Centre, City-operated museums, Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, Ben Franklin Place, and Shenkman Arts Centre will be closed to the public.
Other City of Ottawa services closed for Labour Day
- All Ottawa Public Library branches
- The City of Ottawa’s municipal child care centres
- All Employment and Social Services offices
- Ottawa Public Health dental clinics, Sexual Health Clinic and the Parenting-in-Ottawa drop-ins
- The Site program supervised consumption services at 179 Clarence St. will be closed on Monday. The Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Service Canada/Passport Services Office
- Service Canada Centre and Passport Services offices in Ottawa and Gatineau will be closed
Canada Post
- There will be no Canada Post delivery on Monday. Canada Post offices will be closed.
- Post offices operated by the private sector may be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
Malls
- Rideau Centre will be open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tanger Outlets will be open on Labour Day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Businesses at Lansdowne and the Glebe are permitted to open on Labour Day
- Businesses located in the ByWard Market are allowed to open on Monday.
- Bayshore Shopping Centre, Billings Bridge, Carlingwood Shopping Centre, Place d’Orleans and St. Laurent Shopping Centre will all be closed on Monday.
All other businesses are required to close on the statutory holiday.
Grocery stores
The following grocery stores will be open on Labour Day.
- Farm Boy at the Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Loblaws on Isabella Street will be open, but hasn’t posted its hours.
- Loblaws on Rideau Street will be open, but hasn’t posted its hours.
- Metro Glebe on Bank Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Metro Rideau will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Whole Foods at Lansdowne will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Museums
- Canadian Museum of Nature is open Friday through Monday.
- Canada Agriculture and Food Museum open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- Canada Science and Technology Museum open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- Canada Aviation and Space Museum open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- Canadian War Museum open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- Canadian Museum of History open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- National Gallery of Canada open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- The Diefenbunker open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
- Bytown Museum will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Ottawa Art Gallery is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is closed on Monday.
