Woman, 70, dies following two-vehicle collision in Russell Township

A 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead in hospital from injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Russell Township on Saturday.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers from the Russell County detachment responded to the scene of a collision between a sport utility vehicle and a sedan near the intersection of North Russell Road and Route 200.

No other injuries were reported, the OPP said in the Jan. 3 news release.

The investigation of the fatal crash was ongoing with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement, Technical Collision Investigation and Reconstruction teams, the release added.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam video from the area at the time of the incident was asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

The site of the collision is about 35 kilometres southeast of Ottawa.
