Woman facing arson charges after two sent to hospital in Rockland blaze

A 47-year-old woman faces arson charges after two people jumped from a second-storey window during an April 28 fire in Rockland.

The fire was reported in a two-storey apartment building on Laurier Street near Edwards Street on April 28 at about 12:30 p.m. Two people were taken to hospital after they jumped from the window.

The Clarence-Rockland Fire Department extinguished the blaze and ensured no one else was in the building.

Following an

investigation by the Russell County OPP and the fire marshal, a 47-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday. She has been charged with a

rson disregard for human life and arson 

damage to property. 

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on May 28.
