A wrong-way driver is facing impaired driving charges after colliding with a snowplow early Wednesday morning on Limebank Road, according to Ottawa police.
The vehicle was travelling on the wrong side of a divided roadway when police said it struck a snowplow “at a high rate of speed,” leaving the driver in serious condition.
The driver has since been cleared with non-life-threatening injuries and was then arrested for impaired operation after being found to have a blood alcohol concentration more than twice the legal limit.
The snowplow was able to drive away, and the driver’s vehicle was towed. Limebank Road has since reopened, police said.
“Impaired driving puts everyone at risk. Please plan a safe ride home,” police said on social media.
