Youth charged in stabbing of boy, 13, at Oakville park

A youth has been charged in the alleged stabbing of a 13-year-old boy at a park in Oakville over the weekend.

The Halton Regional Police Service said at around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, officers were called to Memorial Park on Oak Park Boulevard for a report of a stabbing.

Police said a 13-year-old male youth from Oakville was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim has since been released from hospital.

A 15-year-old male youth, also from Oakville, has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police said the stabbing occurred after the pair arranged to fight at the park, and both young teenagers were known to each other.

The victim and accused were not identified by means of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). The investigation is ongoing.
