If you’re at a World Cup match and suddenly find yourself on the Jumbotron, it’s probably for one of two reasons: You’re wearing intricate team-colour face paint and holding a really good sign, or that glamorous woman in the giant sunglasses next to you is the wife or girlfriend of one of the athletes battling it out for football glory on the field below.
Along with jersey swaps and national anthem belting, soccer WAG spotting is a time-honoured tradition kick-started by Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham.
During the World Cup, the world’s top players will be making their way to Toronto — and so will many of their significant others, many of whom offer glimpses into life on the field with game-day vlogs or behind the scenes selfies.
Whether you’ll be in the stands, at a watch party or just yelling at the TV at home, here’s your field guide to some of the WAGs you might just spot in Toronto during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sheyenne Jen, engaged to Alphonso Davies, Team Canada
If you’re looking for a BTS glimpse into the life of Team Canada’s captain and buzziest player, start following Sheyenne Jen immediately. After dating for about two years, Alphonso Davies popped the question to the German interior architecture student and musician (but “fiancé first,” per her TikTok bio) in Dubai roughly 18 months ago. While Jen doesn’t post photos of Davies on her social media accounts, she’s done game day vlogs at Bayern Munich, his regular season team, and recently shared a video of picking out her wedding shoes at Jimmy Choo that racked up more than 800K views.
Melanie Pace, married to Richie Laryea, Team Canada
Melanie Pace is a longtime Canada WAG: She and Richie Laryea have been together since 2012, tied the knot after a decade and now have two children, Elijah and Lilla. Pace, who graduated from Florida State University, is a fashion stylist and on-air personality who often posts on social media repping merch for Laryea’s team, Toronto F.C. On June 9, she posted a video of herself in pistachio wide-leg pants, bright yellow sunglasses and a Loewe bag captioned, “World Cup outfits incoming!! Celebrated the team with a send off last night! Exciting weeks ahead! Let’s go Canada!”
Sophia Havertz, married to Kai Havertz, Team Germany
A model and influencer with half a million followers, Havertz has been with German player and Arsenal star Kai since they were teenagers. They got married in 2024 and had their first child together last year — he made his match day debut in a tiny jersey at just a few months old. “Ups and downs, I will always have your back,” she wrote to her husband on Instagram when Arsenal lost the UEFA Champions League final this spring.
Izabel Kovacic, married to Mateo Kovacic, Team Croatia
Sometimes called “the Croatian Shakira” for her resemblance to the famous Colombian ex-WAG, Kovacic met Mateo, who plays for Manchester City, at church when they were teenagers growing up in a small town near Zagreb. They got married in 2017 and now have two children. Izabel is a businesswoman with an economics degree, the founder of two fashion brands making clothes for women, kids and babies.
Constança Damião, engaged to Stephen Eustáquio, Team Canada
Constança and Stephen Eustáquio have been engaged since last year and have a toddler daughter, Benedita. Damião runs her own fashion label, Coudie, and also has training in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She appears to have met Leamington, Ont.’s own Eustáquio when he went to play professionally in her native Portugal; since then, they’ve shared a steady stream of couple selfies and glimpses into their family life.
Peyton Johnston, married to Alistair Johnston, Team Canada
This pair met at North Carolina’s Wake Forest University, and when they took their relationship Instagram official, Vancouver-born Alistair Johnston joked that American Peyton Pesavento was his “green card.” They got married in 2025, not long after Peyton, who played tennis in college, graduated with a master’s in performance psychology from the University of Edinburgh. These days, the couple live in Glasgow, where Alistair plays for Celtic F.C. while Peyton runs a business selling pastel pet portraits and hosts a “mental performance” podcast called Yips & Giggles. “Heart is still racing,” she wrote on Instagram a few weeks ago after Celtic won the Scottish Championship.
Sira Kessie, married to Franck Kessie, Team Ivory Coast
With more than 265K Instagram followers, this Ivory Coast WAG is just about as influential as her husband, midfielder Franck Kessie, who plays for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League. Sira’s social account often features travel and game-day vlogs with their kids in little team jerseys and details of her own outfits. She works in real estate development, having co-founded the Falcon Group with her husband and another Ivorian player.
Daniela Millar, married to Liam Millar, Team Canada
Daniela Millar is a former elite athlete herself: She played for Penn State University women’s ice hockey team and was named goalie of the month in the college league. She and her husband, Liam, who plays for Hull City in the U.K.’s Premier League, met when they were kids living in the GTA — shoutout to the Oakville Hornets, where she was a star youth player — and now have three daughters. Liam credits Daniela with helping him through recent mental health struggles following an ACL injury: “Forever proud of you, my love,” she recently wrote on Instagram.
Valentina Nivicki, girlfriend of Tajon Buchanan, Team Canada
Valentina Nivicki, who attended York University in the Kinesiology & Health Science program, has been dating Brampton’s Tajon Buchanan for over two years. They’ve been Instagram official since at least January 2024, when she wrote “Beyond proud of you” on a post as Buchanan joined Inter Milan; he now plays for Villarreal in Spain. Nivicki is a regular TikTok poster who often films her designer label-dotted game-day outfits (and Buchanan’s) as well as glimpses behind the scenes of the VIP section.
Carli Waterman, married to Joel Waterman, Team Canada
Carli and Joel Waterman, who plays for the Chicago Fire, are both from B.C.; they were together for years before he proposed by the river’s edge in Montreal in 2024 while he was playing for CF Montreal. They got married in Vancouver in January. Carli is a physiotherapist specializing in orthopedics and pelvic health, and a former collegiate soccer player herself. She’s also the older sister of Julia Grosso, the midfielder who scored the winning goal when Canada won soccer gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
