After 40 years of hosting the morning show on Toronto’s Chum 104.5 radio station, Canadian broadcaster Marilyn Denis has announced that she will be stepping away from the role this summer.
Starting on the morning gig at CHUM FM as the “Roger, Rick and Marilyn” show in 1986, the 67-year-old Edmonton-born broadcaster currently hosts the morning drive show from 5 to 9 a.m., now called “The Marilyn Denis Show.”
The broadcasting star, who also had a 34-year career in daytime television, reflected on her multi-decade radio career in a statement on Thursday morning.
“It’s no secret that I love radio. Working in the iconic CHUM universe for 40 years has been an absolute privilege,” Denis said in a press release.
“As I make the decision to step away from the station I love, I look back with pride and gratitude, knowing I had the honour of saying, ‘I worked at CHUM.’”
Leading up to her final show on the program in the summer, the station will celebrate Denis’s career and legacy, according to the release. More details, including the date of her final show will be released in the future.
Alongside her radio hosting, Denis also hosted the namesake “Marilyn Denis Show” lifestyle program on CTV for thirteen seasons until 2023. Prior to this, Denis spent 19 years at the helm of Citytv’s “Cityline.”
Denis has won multiple awards throughout her career including the Trailblazer Award, formerly called the Rosalie Award, in 2006, that honours Canadian women who have paved the way for others in radio broadcasting. She was appointed to the Order of Ontario in 2024.
