A man and woman in their 20s face a list of charges after a loaded firearm and various controlled substances were found in a “proactive traffic stop” in the area of Vanier and Overbrook on March 3.

Police said a vehicle was pulled over at about 10:40 p.m. by members of the Central Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) for an unspecified Highway Traffic Act violation.

The release states a 28-year-old man was charged with “firearm-related offences under the Criminal Code,” as well as offences under the Cannabis Control Act, Highway Traffic Act and liquor control laws.

A 24-year-old woman was charged with an offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The Ottawa police Guns and Gangs Unit has taken over the file and is continuing the investigation.
