What’s open and closed in Ottawa for Victoria Day weekend 2026

After several days of overcast weather, Ottawa may be getting a brief break from the rain during this long weekend.

Victoria Day, celebrated on May 18, also marks the last day of the Canadian Tulip Festival . It seems the halt on spring showers couldn’t have come at a better time.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed in the national capital on Victoria Day .

City of Ottawa services

City Hall and all municipal Client Service Centres in Ottawa will be closed. The 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only.

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection. Pickup will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular day.

The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Ottawa Public Health Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Parenting-In-Ottawa drop-ins will be closed.

The Sexual Health Clinic and satellite clinics will be closed.

Dental clinics will be closed.

All municipal child-care centres will be closed.

Community centres, pools and recreation facilities will be closed or will have modified hours. Check the facility page on the city’s website for details.

Public library branches will be closed.

City-operated museums, as well as Meridian Theatres @ Centrepoint and Shenkman Arts Centre, will be closed.

The following galleries will be closed: Barbara Ann Scott Gallery; Karsh-Masson Gallery; City Hall Art Gallery; Gallery 112 at the James Bartleman Centre.

OC Transpo

Buses and O-Train Lines 1, 2 and 4 will run on Sunday schedules.

Line 1 will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Line 2 and 4 will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Rural Shopper Route 301 will not run.

The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The OC Transpo Lost and Found at St-Laurent Station will be closed.

Para Transpo regular bookings or recurring trips for Monday are automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips for Victoria Day online using My Para Transpo or by calling 613-560-5000.

Groceries, shopping, and alcohol outlets

Most Farm Boy locations and Loblaws locations will be open, but will operate on holiday hours. Check the hours of your nearest store to be sure.

Most Metro locations and Sobeys locations will be closed. Check the hours of your nearest store to be sure.

All Costco stores will be closed.

Across Ontario, 304 LCBO locations will be open. Check the LCBO store locator to confirm the hours of your nearest location.

All Beer Store outlets will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bayshore Shopping Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Carlingwood Shopping Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Place d’Orleans will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

St. Laurent Centre will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tanger Outlet stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Billings Bridge Shopping Centre will be closed.

Local museums

The following museums will be open (check museum websites for specific hours): Canadian Museum of Nature; Canada Agriculture and Food Museum; Canada Science and Technology Museum; Canada Aviation and Space Museum; Canadian War Museum; Museum of History; National Gallery of Canada; Bytown Museum.

The Ottawa Art Gallery and the Diefenbunker will be closed.

Other

All ServiceOntario locations will be closed.

All banks will be closed.
