Pedestrian dies days after being struck by a vehicle in Barrhaven

A female pedestrian struck by a car at Fallowfield Road and Via Park Place in Barrhaven has died.

The victim, a 29-year-old woman, died from her injuries on Sunday, May 17, the Ottawa Police Service said.

Police said she was hit by a sedan.

On May 11, a local resident called the Ottawa Police after seeing an unconscious person on the road near the OC Transpo Fallowfield Park & Ride at about 7:20 in the evening.

The Barrhaven resident, Linda Howie, who was not present for the collision, said she saw the victim on the ground soon after she was hit.

Howie said the victim was apparently unconscious, lying in the westbound lanes at the pedestrian crossing with evident injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. Police confirmed that the woman was not hit by an OC Transpo vehicle.

Any witnesses, or anyone who might have dash cam footage from the area on May 11 at about 7:20 p.m., are encouraged to call the Fatal Collision Investigation Unit of the OPS at 613-236-1222, ext. 2345.
