Ottawa police are maintaining a “large presence in and around Mooney’s Bay Park” Sunday following violent confrontations Saturday night that included two stabbings, one of them critical.
Two people are in hospital with stabbing wounds, one of them in critical condition, following a number of violent confrontations at a large gathering at Mooney’s Bay Saturday night.
Ottawa Paramedics Service said Sunday they received several calls minutes before 9 p.m. reporting “multiple patients” at the scene.
The unconfirmed reports stated there were “hundreds” of people present, said paramedics spokesperson Neil Martin.
The service sent several units to the scene, where paramedics found a “young adult” man with stab wounds.
The victim was transported to a trauma centre in critical condition, and Martin noted paramedics were “heavily involved” in treatment during the transport.
A teenaged female was also treated at the scene and transported to hospital in stable condition.
Social media images and messages also indicate a large Ottawa police presence at the scene.
“There will be no further update until Monday at the earliest,” Ottawa police said in an email Sunday.
