Two people are dead following a two-vehicle collision early Monday on Highway 401 near Gananoque.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, with the initial OPP investigation indicating that a transport truck was disabled on the westbound right shoulder when a westbound passenger vehicle ran into it, police said in a news release.
Two people in the vehicle — a 47-year-old and a 73-year-old — were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to hospital to be assessed.
The driver of the transport truck was not injured.
The Leeds County OPP detachment continues to investigate, and anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dash camera footage from the area at the time of the incident was asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
