On the evening of July 23, the Ottawa Paramedic Service responded to three assaults, two of which were with “an edged weapon,” said Nicolas Guertin, who is their acting superintendent.
The first incident took place at about 9:12 p.m. at the corner of King Edward Avenue and Murray Street, just northeast of the ByWard Market.
Paramedics received a call at that time regarding an assault with an edged weapon after which a man in his 20s was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Shortly after, at about 9:14 p.m., paramedics received another call from the 100 block of Clarence Street, right in the Market, for a female of unknown age who had been assaulted.
Guertin could not confirm whether a weapon was involved in that case.
The female had serious injuries, but was stable in hospital.
Finally, at about 9:42 p.m., a man in his 50s was assaulted, again with an edged weapon in Nepean, near the intersection of Shoreham Avenue and Craig Henry Drive.
The man also had serious injuries, but Guertin confirmed he was also in stable condition.
