FIFA scraps plan to sell part of World Cup to private investors

The World Cup isn’t for sale after all.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said Friday night the organization will not proceed with a plan to sell stakes in future World Cup profits to private equity funds.

There had been major backlash to the plan, including the European soccer governing body saying it would boycott future FIFA events if the plan went through.
