Ottawa police are now investigating two stabbings that occurred on the same day.
A male victim was taken to hospital in critical condition on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 4, after a stabbing in the downtown Rideau area, police stated in a news release Wednesday.
The victim was located near the intersection of Daly Avenue and Nicholas Street, police said, but few other details were released.
No one was in custody Tuesday night, but the Ottawa Police Service said there was no known threat to public safety.
On Tuesday morning, a man had been taken to hospital after suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries from a stabbing that happened in a busy stretch of Centretown, paramedics said.
First responders had been called to the scene near McLeod and Bank streets at 9:45 a.m., Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said.
The investigation was ongoing as of Tuesday evening, police had said.
