Here’s what’s open and closed on Thanksgiving weekend in Ottawa

The Thanksgiving long weekend is just around the corner. Here’s a quick look at what’s open and closed on Thanksgiving Day, this Monday, Oct. 12.

Waste collection

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Monday. Pickup will resume Tuesday, with collection be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week as a result.

Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular scheduled weekday.

The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Transit and parking

OC Transpo and O-Train service will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Monday.

O-Train Line 1 will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Rural Shopper Route 301 will not operate on Monday.

Regular bookings or recurring Para Transpo trips for Monday will be automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips for Thanksgiving by calling 613-560-5000 or using My Para Transpo.

OC Transpo’s Rideau Centre customer service centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All city parking regulations will apply on Monday.

City services and facilities

All Service Ontario client service centres will be closed, and the city’s 3-1-1 contact centre will be open for urgent matters only.

Most recreation and cultural centres will be closed on Monday, however, select pools, arenas and fitness complexes will operate on a modified schedule.

The Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The sexual health clinic and satellite clinics, dental clinics and Parenting-In-Ottawa drop-ins will be closed.

Employment and social services offices will be closed on Monday.

All municipal child-care centres will be closed on Monday.

All branches of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Monday.

Malls

The Rideau Centre and Tanger Outlets will both be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Many other shopping centres, including Bayshore Shopping Centre, Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, Carlingwood Shopping, St. Laurent Shopping Centre and Place d’Orléans will be closed on Monday.

Grocery stores

Most suburban and neighbourhood grocery stores across the city will be closed on Monday, but select downtown grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving Monday on holiday hours.

Those include Farm Boy Metcalfe, which is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Farm Boy Rideau, which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Loblaws Isabella and Loblaws Rideau will also both be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

Metro Glebe on Bank Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Metro Rideau will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Whole Foods at Lansdowne will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

If in doubt about whether your grocery store is open, call ahead before making the trip.

LCBO/Beer Stores

All LCBO locations will be closed on Monday, as will all Beer Store locations.

Museums and galleries

The Canadian Museum of Nature will be open Friday through Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum will be open Friday though Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Canada Science and Technology Museum will be open Friday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum will be open Friday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Canadian War Museum will be open Friday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Canadian Museum of History will be open Friday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The National Gallery of Canada will be open Friday to Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Ottawa Art Gallery will be open from Friday to Sunday, but closed on Monday.

The Diefenbunker will be open from Friday to Sunday, but closed on Monday.
