A new 911 system has rolled out in Ottawa. Here’s what it means

Ottawa’s ambulance communications centre is tentatively scheduled to transition to Next Generation 9-1-1 in November, ahead of its original January 2027 target, Lily Barnes, a spokesperson for Ontario’s Minister of Health, confirmed to the Ottawa Citizen. Barnes said 11 of the province’s 22 Central Ambulance Communication Centres had already transitioned.
