Travellers flying between Toronto and Mumbai now have a new non-stop option, with Air India launching seasonal flights between the two cities.
The airline began the route on Oct. 25, with flights scheduled three times a week until March 26, 2027, according to an Air India news release.
The route will also use the long-haul Boeing 777-300ER aircraft which will feature upgraded cabin interiors and eight first-class seats with sliding privacy doors, 40 flat beds in business class, and 280 economy seats.
“Canada is one of Air India’s most important international markets, with deep people-to-people connections driving strong demand for travel, particularly during the festive and holiday season,” said Nipun Aggarwal, the airline’s chief commercial officer, in the news release.
“At the same time, we are also progressively introducing our newest aircraft and the latest onboard products to North America,” Aggarwal added.
Flights will depart Toronto Pearson International Airport at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, at 2:10 p.m. the following day.
Flights from Mumbai to Toronto depart at 4 a.m. on the same days, scheduled to arrive in Toronto at 10 a.m. local time.
Air India says it is the only airline offering non-stop flights between Toronto and Mumbai this winter. The new service is expected to add nearly 2,000 seats a week between India and Canada
The new flights are part of a broader expansion of Air India’s Canadian operations, which according to the airline will increase the capacity between the two countries by 4,400 seats a month.
